Orthopedic Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Doctors Hospital of Augusta seeks an RN for our Ortho Med-Surg unit. In this role, you’ll provide comprehensive care to pre- and post-operative orthopedic and medical-surgical patients, from assessment through discharge. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring complex clinical conditions, coordinating with physicians and therapists, and educating patients and families. Provide direct nursing care to orthopedic and medical-surgical patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely while following hospital and regulatory standards Monitor patient conditions, interpret clinical data, and promptly report and respond to changes in status Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care Educate patients and families on diagnoses, post-surgical care, medications, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure compliance with hospital policies Support a culture of safety by following infection prevention, fall prevention, and medication safety protocols Participate in continuing education, competency training, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives Orthopedic nursing care Medical-surgical nursing Patient assessment and triage IV therapy and medication administration Post-operative care and pain management Wound and drain management Telemetry and vital sign monitoring Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Patient and family education Infection prevention and safety protocols Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active GA RN license or compact state equivalent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred Orthopedic Nursing Certification (ONC) preferred Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (CMSRN) preferred
