Slitter Operator Helper
Location: Shelby Twp, MI Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–3:00 PM Pay: Up to $20/hr
Job Summary:
We are hiring a Slitter Operator Helper to support steel slitting operations in a manufacturing environment. In this role, you will assist with processing steel coils, monitoring quality, and maintaining an organized and safe work area. This is a great opportunity for someone with steel manufacturing experience looking for long-term growth.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Identify different grades of steel
Assist with assembling slitter separator arms
Monitor steel during recoiling and identify defects
Remove coils from recoiler and apply OD bands
Document cut numbers, coil dimensions, and heat numbers
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Report quality concerns and stop production if necessary
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
Previous experience in steel manufacturing or slitting preferred
Basic reading, writing, and math skills
Ability to follow safety and quality procedures
Skills & Competencies:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Strong attention to detail
Reliability and strong work ethic
Equipment You May Work With:
Coil loading/unloading equipment
Banding equipment
Slitter separator arms
Overhead crane
Micrometers, calipers, and tape measures
