Founding Board Member- National Leadership Council

RISK MANAGEMENT: Systemic risk, resilience, preparedness, critical infrastructure, climate, water, energy, food, health, biodiversity, supply chains and institutional readiness. RISK TECHNOLOGY, DATA & SYSTEMS: AI, GeoAI, data, models, digital infrastructure, sovereign compute, cyber, sensing, simulation, evidence systems and frontier technologies.

RISK FINANCE: Finance and insurance readiness, protection gaps, public and private capital, risk transfer and the translation of resilience priorities into finance-ready pathways. The Consortium brings together three independent institutions: The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI), Canada: GCRI leads the Leadership Council, Global Leadership Programme and wider leadership system. Its work spans systemic-risk intelligence, science, evidence, technical assistance, frontier technology and resilience infrastructure. GCRI holds UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status, participates in World Bank and IMF civil-society channels, is a Santiago Network Member Organization, and works through National Working Groups and field relationships spanning 120+ countries. The Global Risks Forum (GRF), Switzerland: Focused on governance, leadership development, foresight, institutional learning, international dialogue and Nexus Universe. The Global Risks Alliance (GRA), United States: Focused on finance and insurance readiness, protection-gap intelligence and risk-to-capital translation. Together, they support a federated model of national networks and technical assistance, connecting national priorities and local knowledge with international expertise, technology, evidence and finance while keeping decision-making authority with the institutions and communities that legitimately hold it. Who we are looking for We are looking beyond titles. We are seeking leaders whose judgment, experience, expertise, relationships or institutional position can materially advance important work. Strong candidates will typically bring:

• a demonstrated record of leadership, expertise or institution-building
• recognized capability in a relevant strategic field
• independent judgment and high standards of integrity
• the ability to work across sectors, disciplines and institutions
• strong national, sectoral or international relationships
• a practical commitment to evidence, execution and measurable progress
• one consequential priority they want to advance in 2027
• the capacity to participate in the Programme's shared-cost model, personally, through their institution, or through an eligible sponsor The shared-cost model is a core part of participation. It enables the year-round intelligence, programme team, technical capabilities, expert network, mission support and Nexus Universe infrastructure available to Council members. Selection is based on credibility, contribution, strategic fit and readiness to participate fully in the Programme. What Founding Members gain The National Leadership Council is the long-term leadership platform. The Nexus Global Leadership Programme is the year-round working system that enables members to turn Council participation into substantive work. Members gain access to:
• continuous intelligence on systemic risks and frontier technologies
• focused evidence and briefings relevant to their priorities
• senior peers across sectors, countries and disciplines
• specialist researchers, practitioners and technical experts
• scenario analysis, simulations and stress testing
• AI, GeoAI, modelling and data capabilities where relevant
• national and international working groups and mission teams
• Nexus Universe dialogues, exercises and demonstrations
• technical-assistance pathways across the wider Nexus network
• support in moving complex priorities toward decision-ready outcomes The value is practical. Better intelligence for the leader. Stronger decisions for the institution. Greater capacity to anticipate, test and act. Your 2027 Strategic Leadership AgendaEach Founding Member enters the Council with one consequential strategic priority. That priority becomes the basis of an individual annual leadership plan:
• Priority: What needs to move forward?
• Risk: What could change or prevent the outcome?
• Intelligence: What does the leader need to understand earlier?
• Technology: What should be assessed, tested or applied?
• People: Which experts, institutions and stakeholders need to be involved?
• Finance: What resilience, protection or capital questions need to be addressed?
• Action: What should be tested, demonstrated or decided during 2027?
• Continuation: What capability, decision asset or initiative should remain after the annual cycle? Nexus helps organize the intelligence, expertise, technical capabilities and relationships around that agenda. A pathway to greater responsibility The first year establishes a substantive contribution record. Members in good standing may subsequently be considered for Council leadership, committees, strategic missions, national and regional initiatives, Nexus Universe responsibilities and other significant roles across the Consortium. Eligible members may also enter future Board candidate processes within GCRI, GRF or GRA where appropriate. Board and other formal appointments are separately governed. They are never automatic or purchased.2027 Founding Cohorts National Leadership Councils are being formed across five constituencies: Government & Public Institutions Enterprise & Critical Infrastructure Universities, Science & Research Civil Society & Public Information Community & Indigenous Leadership If your experience aligns with this mandate, we invite you to submit:
