Under general direction of the SAFE Program Manager and the SAFE DV Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for provision of high quality crisis counseling and advocacy interventions with patients identified as having domestic violence (DV) or sexual assault concerns.. Intervenes with patients providing assistance in safety planning, danger assessment, advocacy, resource linkage, emotional support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse and assault in the GBMC community.. As per need, participate in community outreach programs on behalf of GBMC. This is a position at the Monroe County Department of Human Services located at a specialized secure detention (SSD) facility for pre-trial and post-sentencing detention of youth who are alleged or sentenced "adolescent offenders.". The facility is part of the Monroe County Children's Detention Center.. Duties involve performing intensive case management activities for youth who are detained at the facility.. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Social Work Supervisor - Children's Center or other higher-level staff member.. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years paid full time or its part time equivalent experience working with youth within a counseling or treatment-based setting, or equivalent qualifications as approved through a New York State Office for Children and Family Services waiver.

To provide and/or coordinate referrals for additional services, consultants and community resources as needed (i.e. medical, therapy, psychiatric, parenting classes, job training,)Document the NMD weekly progress at home, school, and/or work, major incidents, and other significant, collateral contacts.
