This specialized training may cover subjects including transportation management, freight classifications, methods of working with civilian carriers and special handling of medical goods and explosives. Officers who previously held a commission in another United States Military Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Public Health Service, or United States Coast Guard are exempt from attending ODS or LDO/CWO Academy.

The service members of the Purchasing, Supply and Logistics community make sure America's Navy has what it needs, when it needs it. Officer positions in the Supply Corps are available to college graduates, and Logistics Specialist (LS) positions are available to those without a degree. Degrees in business, science, technology, engineering and mathematics are preferred but not required. A graduate degree is preferred by not required. Enlisted Qualifications A high-school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor in the Logistics Specialist field.

Alerts the Dispatcher at Route Operations of safety/maintenance problems and/or accidents or incidents in accordance with established procedures. Alerts Route Operations/Operations regarding traffic problems that impact pick-up times to ensure that alternative measures can be taken (e.g. other buses can be assigned to pick up passengers) and students can reach their destination by bell-time. Completes all required paperwork (including route change sheets, time cards, vehicle repair requests) and submits it in a timely manner.
