Estimator | Commercial Plumbing Contractor

Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by a confidential client to conduct a search for a Commercial Estimator in the Raleigh-Durham area. Our client is a well-established commercial plumbing contractor with decades of history in the Triangle. What started as a family business has grown into a respected company backed by strong ownership and growing aggressively, both organically and through acquisitions. The company holds its team to high standards and has built a strong reputation with general contractors across the region. The Commercial Estimator will produce takeoffs and estimates for the company's commercial plumbing projects. Reporting to the VP of Commercial and working closely with the project management team, this person will deliver accurate, well-documented estimates that guide leadership's bid decisions and set projects up for profitable execution. Perform complete takeoffs from plans and specs for commercial plumbing projects, including underground, above ground, fixtures, gas, medical gas, and lab systems Build detailed estimates including labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and permits Bid projects ranging from $40K to $5M, with a focus on healthcare and medical facilities Solicit and level vendor and subcontractor quotes Learn and apply the company's estimating standards, assemblies, and historical job cost data in FastPIPEPrepare accurate, well-documented estimates to support leadership's bid/no-bid decisions Present bids professionally and build relationships with general contractors and their project teams Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed Project Handoff & Support Hand off awarded projects to project managers with full scope, budget, and buyout plan Stay involved in awarded projects alongside leadership, with the opportunity to take on project management responsibilities over time 3+ years of estimating experience on commercial plumbing or mechanical projects Strong plan and spec reading ability, including underground, above ground, fixtures, gas, medical gas, and lab systems Proficiency with takeoff and estimating software (FastEST/FastPIPE experience a plus) Healthcare or hospital project experience, plumbing field experience or trade licensure is a plus
