APPLY NOW (opens in a new tab)Maven is a market-leading, employee-owned proprietary trading firm deploying internal capital across discretionary, systematic, and market-making strategies. We differentiate ourselves by exclusively managing our own capital, delivering exceptional returns on equity since inception, and preserving an entrepreneurial, highly collaborative culture.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for an ambitious and proactive Index Rolls Trader to join our Options Market Making team in Chicago. The eligible candidate will have extensive experience trading index rolls and rates, initially across the S&P index complex and potentially other indices later. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage rates and rolls across front and back expiries, absorbing the risks from the option operation.
Improve the existing trading and hedging setup.
Identify and trade P&L opportunities arising from rolls, rates and flow.
Take end-to-end ownership of the space
Work with developers where modest platform improvements are required.
Potentially help develop a broader rolls/rates trading capability over time.

Able to identify P&L opportunities, not just hedge risk
Capable of working with traders and developers
Interested in building something rather than joining a fully mature desk
2–5 years’ experience trading index rolls
Strong understanding of options markets
Commercial trading mindset with appetite for risk ownership and strategy responsibility
Strong interest and ability to operate in a fast-moving, opportunistic trading environment
Strong analytical skills and research capabilities
Familiarity with Python and SQL or similar programming and database languages

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.
An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
