K-12 Academic Tutor and Mentor

City Year seeks an Academic Tutor & Mentor to support students in partner public schools. In this full-time, school-based role, you’ll provide small-group and in-class tutoring, coach students in building academic and social-emotional skills, and collaborate closely with teachers. You will track student progress, support attendance and enrichment activities, and help create a positive, inclusive learning environment. Provide in-class and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects to K-12 students Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement in school Collaborate daily with teachers and school staff to align on student goals and supports Track, document, and report student progress using school and City Year tools Lead or support enrichment, after-school, and attendance-support activities Model inclusive, culturally responsive practices that uphold City Year’s values Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development Contribute to a collaborative team culture focused on equity and student success K-12 tutoring Lesson support and small-group instruction Student mentoring and coaching Classroom management support Data tracking and progress monitoring Communication with teachers and staff Culturally responsive practices Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Time management and organization Documentation and reporting Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Teaching certification (optional, any state) Tutoring or mentoring experience with K-12 students AmeriCorps eligibility and background check clearance Training in youth development or education (preferred) Coursework in education, psychology, or related field
