Grant Accountant

Responsibilities: Prepare and post journal entries to keep grant and general ledger records accurate and up to date. Reconcile accounts across cash activity, credit cards, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to support clean financial reporting. Assist with month-end close tasks, including reviewing balances, identifying discrepancies, and resolving accounting issues promptly. Track grant-related transactions and help ensure expenditures are recorded in alignment with funding requirements and internal guidelines. Support payroll-related accounting and cost allocation activities to improve the accuracy of expense reporting. Compile documentation and financial details needed for audit requests and respond to follow-up items in a timely manner. Review daily and periodic financial activity to confirm transactions are properly classified and supported. Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain organized records and improve consistency in accounting processes. At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in grant, nonprofit, or fund-based accounting environments. Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and journal entry preparation. Experience supporting month-end close and performing account reconciliations with strong attention to detail. Familiarity with government grants and the financial tracking requirements tied to restricted funding. Understanding of cash activity, payroll accounting, credit card reconciliation, and cost allocation methods. Ability to organize audit support materials and work effectively under deadlines. Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting.
